GRANT MORRISON'S ALL-STAR MOMENTS

Superman: The Movie
Superman saves Lois and the falling Helicopter

"It just makes you cheer. Suddenly, you think there's hope for the world when Superman appears and saves that helicopter. It's that moment where he first shows himself to the public."

Action Comics #410
The Satanic Son of Superman

"It came from the same time as 'The Exorcist' and those movies. Superman inadvertently married the devil's daughter or something. There were really weird Superman stories [during that time], like Superman carrying his head down the steps of the Tower of London."

Superman: Man of Steel #1
Superman debuts by saving a crashing space plane

"It's the first time Superman appears [in the modern age], and Lois sees him for the first time. It just seems really fresh again after all these years, and instead of saving a regular plane, he's saving a space plane."

Superman Annual #11
For The Man Who Has Everything

"I don't like ['Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow'] as much because Superman cries. I've got this thing that Superman doesn't cry, he just deals with it. It just seems wrong. [This one] is a really tight, great story. It's over and done in one. And Superman's quite tough in it."

Superman vs. Muhammad Ali
The Man of Steel boxes The Greatest

"How could you forget that one? Because it had to happen! I had to travel many, many miles to find that comic. I remember getting it and it didn't quite live up to the hype. But the more and more the years go by, the better that comic gets [because of] the contortions they go through to make sure Ali wins."
