[WORD ON THE STREET] 'MOON KNIGHT,' 'GHOST RIDER' AND 'CAPTAIN AMERICA'

Take a look into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s files for Wizard Universe's weekly round-up of Marvel's street-level superheroes
By Lee Rodriguez

(EDITOR'S NOTE: With the Initiative now an established part of the Marvel Universe, keeping tabs on street-level heroes is something that calls for expert surveillance. For run-downs on the books featuring these constantly crusading alleyway adventurers, check back weekly as Lee Rodriguez brings you a run down on Captain America, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, Moon Knight and Punisher War Journal.)

This week's surveillance report: Moon Knight

S.H.I.E.L.D. File MK81975

Name: Marc Spector
Code Name: Moon Knight
Other Known Aliases: Stephen Grant, Jake Lockley
Known Associates: Jean-Paul "Frenchie" DuChamp, Marlene Arlaune, Bertrand Crawley, Gena, Ricky, and Ray Landers, Rob Silverman, the Profile, Midnight (Jeff Wilde, deceased), the Avengers (West Coast), Raoul Bushman (deceased)
Status: Registered Superhuman S.H.I.E.L.D Agent – SUSPENDED – Arrest Warrant Issued.
Powers and Abilities: Former CIA agent-turned-mercenary Marc Spector was betrayed and murdered by his associate Raoul Bushman. Spector was then returned to life by a being he believes to be Khonshu, the Egyptian god of vengeance and the moon. Spector avenged his murder and used the money he'd raised as a mercenary to create a new life for himself as millionaire Stephen Grant while fighting crime as Moon Knight. Spector fights with an array of specially designed weapons and gadgets and is considered to be a normal human being, though at one point he did possess superhuman strength that coincided with the lunar cycle.

Recent Activity:
• Moon Knight's cat-and-mouse battle with Carson Knowles, a.k.a. the Black Spectre, eventually ended with Moon Knight throwing Knowles off of a building on live television. Director Stark immediately called for his arrest and now Marc Spector is on the run, taking refuge in the labyrinth of sewers that are home to Bertrand Crawley.

• Spector is officially a wanted man. As S.H.I.E.L.D. agents raid his home and catalog everything, Spector's statue of his god, Khonshu, was destroyed during transport just as Spector had resigned his post as Khonshu's avatar.

Current Activity:

• The hunt is on for Marc Spector following the televised murder of Carson Knowles. S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are sweeping the sewers and interrogating anyone close to Spector. Unfortunately, he seems to have fallen completely off the grid and we have precious few leads.

• Later, S.H.I.E.L.D. Doctor Jenkins informs Director Stark of the massive amount of Starktech nanites in Knowles's blood. The director orders that this information be kept classified. This line is to be stricken from the formal record.

• Former Guardsman and Moon Knight victim Michel O'Brien is visited in prison by the Profiler, who is most likely looking for a way out from under Spector's heel. He offers O'Brien a deal, the details of which are currently unknown.

• Director Stark meets with Council of Superhuman Affairs Representative Sikorsky, who quickly assumes control of the Moon Knight investigation and activates the Thunderbolts, much to the dismay of Director Stark.

Archived surveillance photos and recordings:

Burned Bridges: In most investigations, interviewing those close to the suspect can yield positive results. However, in this instance, our suspect has apparently alienated himself completely from everyone he once considered a friend.

A New Face: Having renounced Khonshu, Spector is now operating with no alias and with no theatrics. He's gotten back to the basics, as it were.

The Kindness of Strangers: Very little is known about the Profiler. What little we do know is hardly flattering. O'Brien is treading dangerous water.

Red Tape: Despite the ongoing investigation from S.H.I.E.L.D. and Director Stark personally, the CSA has decided to pull jurisdiction and activate the Thunderbolts even though Spector is hardly a raving lunatic. The Knowles incident, while heinous, seems to have been isolated. The Thunderbolts are an overacting response.

Release the Hounds: Gaze upon the face of authority.
