The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Friday, May 16
Rated PG-13

It's been a while since we took a trip back inside the wardrobe and returned to the magical world of Narnia. Only a couple years have passed since "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" was released, but over 1000 years have passed in Narnia time. When Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy return to Narnia, they don't find much of anything they recognize. The rightful ruler of Narnia has been forced off the throne by his evil uncle and needs to be restored before things can get better.

The film is sure to have lots of fancy CGI and effects that look similar to every other WETA production, so fans of the first one should enjoy seeing more of the same. It's just too bad there won't be any Turkish delight this time.

Nintendo DS
$29.99

The classic PC CD-ROM game that stole tons of our time back in the '90s has returned on a portable format. It wasn't much of a game. It was actually more of a fancy looking, intellectual screensaver. However, it showed us all the magical effects that were possible with those fancy CD-ROMs. That's more than enough to forgive its more boring qualities, right? Plus, you can poke the screen on the DS instead of using a mouse! Fun!

Comic Books
Batman #676
Grant Morrison (W); Tony Daniel (A); Sandu Florea (A)
DC Comics

"Batman R.I.P." begins with this issue. It promises to be a story that will change the life of Batman forever, at least until everything is reverted back to normal a few years later when the next life changing event occurs. Batman's enemies are going to catch up to him and he might not be able to worm his way out of trouble this time. Will the Dark Knight survive or will a new man take over the mantle of the bat?

Batman should be prepared and have a few contingency plans in case he dies. After all, he already "died" once and ended up putting a psycho like Azrael in charge instead of Dick Grayson. Hopefully Mr. Wayne has learned from his previous mistakes and specifically selected the man who would best replace him: Bueno Excellente.

Guardians of the Galaxy #1
Dan Abnett (W); Andy Lanning (A)
Marvel Comics

Spinning out of the pages of Annihilation: Conquest comes a new group of cosmic superheroes dedicated to protecting the galaxy. Led by Star Lord, the new Guards of the Galaxy consist of Adam Warlock, Gamora, Phyla-Vell, Quasar, Drax the Destroyer, and of course, Rocket Raccoon.

Can this motley crew of individuals put aside their differences and work together to protect the galaxy from any more annihilating, or will the whole thing just resemble "The Real World: Outer Space?" Also, why do you need any other members on the team when you have Rocket Raccoon? He's more than enough to take out Galactus, Annihilus or anyone else who threatens the universe.

Vertigo: First Cut
Various
Vertigo

Vertigo has produced some awesome titles. Sandman, Preacher, Swamp Thing, Transmetropolitan, Y: The Last Man and many others. Unfortunately, they're all over. What will be the next generation of Vertigo titles to make their mark and become best sellers? Lots of recent series produced by Vertigo haven't escaped the axe, but perhaps these newest series will catch reader interest.

If you've neglected picking up some of Vertigo's most recent offerings, now you can get the first issues of Army@Love, Crossing Midnight, DMZ, Jack of Fables, The Exterminators, Loveless, and Scalped for under five bucks and all collected in the same place! Of course, a few of those are already cancelled, so you might be a bit disappointed if you end up getting attached to them. Aww.

Captain Britain and MI:13 #1
Paul Cornell (W); Leonard Kirk
Marvel Comics

The Skrull invasion isn't just something that people in America have to deal with. Don't be so arrogant as to assume that the Skrulls believe they only have to pay attention to the USA in order to rule the world. They're taking on Britain too! Fortunately for the Brits, they also have lots of superheroes to protect the innocent people, and with the obsessive manner in which British tabloids cover them, it's virtually impossible for them to have been replaced with Skrulls!

Captain Britain teams up with MI:13 in order to sniff out the Skrull menace that has infiltrated Great Britain and the royal family. Will anybody really be shocked if we learn that Queen Elizabeth is a Super Skrull? How else could she still be kicking?
The Lost Boys: Reign of Frogs #1
Hans Rodionoff (W); Joel Gomez (A); Don Ho (A)
Wildstorm

Screw Blade, Van Helsing and Buffy, the Frog Brothers are the best vampire killers in the business. The duo made their first appearance in the classic 80's film "The Lost Boys," which actually made vampire culture seem fun for a change. Played by Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander, the brothers Frog must save the innocent people of Santa Clara from all the damn vampires.

This comic series bridges the gap between the original film and the upcoming direct-to-DVD "The Lost Boys: The Tribe." If you want to make the transition as faithful as possible, be sure to listen to "Cry Little Sister" on loop as you read each issue.
