Cable #3

Recently in Cable: Jumping into the timestream with the mutant "messiah" child, Cable landed in the dystopian future of 2043. There he was ambushed by the former X-Man Lucas Bishop, who sought to kill the child in the hopes of preventing his horrific future from becoming reality. With Cable wounded and surrounded by a band of highwaymen, Bishop moved in for the kill. He blasted a truck at Cable and as it fell, Cable attempted to jump into the timestream. But his time warp mechanism malfunctioned.

What happened:
• Bishop is knocked out by the highwaymen and taken away before he can discover if Cable and child are dead.

• Cable and baby are safe, apparently after he used his telekinesis. A waitress from a near diner offers them help.

• The waitress takes care of Cable's wounds, but he prefers to do it conscious with the baby in his arm. He is not willing to let anyone else touch her.

• Bishop wakes up chained to a wall. The highwaymen want to sell him to the authorities for his mutant abilities. Bishop is weak and needs to charge up in order to use his powers, so he mocks his kidnappers. They hit him, each time strengthen their prisoner.

• After stitching and bandaging Cable, the waitress insists that he must rest. Meanwhile she tells him about New Jersey: A flood separated the city from the rest of the state. The rich took control and let their thugs, the "Turnpike Authority" rule the streets and do whatever they want. They control the law and supplies, killing the few people who dare to oppose them.

• Government officials are interested in Bishop. They demand to see a presentation of his abilities. After a few more hits, he's ready to show them. • The waitress, now known as Sophie, thinks that Cable is the man who will save the people from the evil authorities. He refuses to do so, saying he's on an important mission and can't help. He says that his actual mission is to prevent this horrible future.

• Bishop's presentation ends with the deaths of his captors. He believes that the death of the child will prevent this future and is on his way to find if she and her protector are dead.

• A sudden noise of flying and crashing makes Cable believe that trouble is on the doorstep. He thinks it is Bishop. The door blasts off and there stands Cannonball, obviously not as part of a friendly welcoming party.

Mr. Head, meet Mr. Gun

Bishop's bald scalp gets a new decoration thanks to one of the Turnpike thugs.

Badmouth

Bishop goes all the way and makes the highwaymen hit him. Guess psychology doesn't exist in the year 2043.

A few good men

It's not comforting to know that Cable is probably the last good man out there, according to Sophie the waitress.

Neck problems? Call Bishop!

Despite the fact that this man kicked the hell out of him and was about to sell him to the government, Bishop is kind enough to attend the highwayman's neck ache.

X-Force united

It's nice of Cannonball to personally pay a visit to his former team leader, Cable. You too look like $@%&, Sam, you too.
