FAMED SUPERHERO SUITS ON PUBLIC DISPLAY IN NYC | | The Metropolitan Museum of Art celebrates superheroes' influence on American fashion | | | By Kate Napolitano | | Posted 5/07/2008 | |  | | Ever been this close to THE Superman suit worn by Christopher Reeve? Leave your nose-print on glass inches away from that, and lots of other comics-costume memorabilia this summer at Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy, an exhibit that opens Wednesday, May 7 at NYC's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Drawing on fan-fave characters from Mystique to the Punisher, plus current blockbuster headliners Iron Man and, of course, ol' Bat-eyes, designers take viewers through a whole cultural meditation on why it's just so darn-tootin' cool to sport a giant red "S" on your chest. The exhibit runs through September 1, and you can find more info about it here.
