The weekly lowdown on the upcoming episode of 'Lost!'
This week: Jack's tummy trouble, Sawyer's hidden talent, ghosts from the past, and 'one of the best' fan questions of all time... from Jimmy Kimmel?

If you love Lost then you know what it's been like to spend sleepless nights wondering what's up with Jacob's cabin, fantasizing about the implications of time travel between the island and the real world and impatiently waiting to learn the secrets of the Oceanic Six. The wait between episodes can be unbearable, sometimes so much so that it makes you want to jump off a bridge! But here at Wizard Universe we don't condone suicide to avoid the agonizing wait between episodes, much like this writer's psychiatrist and the island itself. So, in hopes of helping you fight off the urge to end it all rather than wait a week, we offer this article as a healthy alternative for those suffering from terminal Lost withdrawal.

Warning: Potential Spoilers Lie Within!
ALL IS 'LOST' 4/29

"SOMETHING NICE BACK HOME"
The second of six new hours of Lost, "Something Nice Back Home," airs on May 1. The upcoming episode's title sounds pleasant enough, but given the traumatic events of last week's Ben-centric "The Shape of Things to Come," it's a safe bet that there won't be unicorns or rainbows in this week's installment. There are several plot threads to be addressed, including Locke, Ben and Hurley's trip to Jacob's cabin, the trek through the jungle by Sawyer, Claire and Aaron and Miles' story, not to mention the continuing gastrointestinal struggles of Dr. Jack Shephard.

The Doctor is Out
Jack will be very busy in his medical tent this week, but not in the way he's used to. As per ABC's official synopsis: "When Jack's health is seriously compromised, Kate and Juliet must learn to work together in order to save him." Trailers for the episode indicate that Jack will need surgery on his appendix. Being that Jack is the only competent surgeon on the island, his fate will rest in the hands of fertility doctor Juliet Burke and fugitive Kate Austen, the island's foremost expert on crackers as medicine. That should be fun.

Fortunately, we know that Jack is alive in the future... alive, but not well. This episode is rumored to be a flash forward Jack-fest that will shed light on his future mental breakdown. Ryan Ozawa of Hawaii Blog reports that Matthew Fox was spotted filming a scene at the mental institute where Hurley is hospitalized. Is Jack simply checking in on his old pal Hugo, or is he there for personal reasons? Considering that Fox has gone on record as saying that we'll see how Jack transitions from the leader of the present to the pill-popper of the future, it's a safe bet that this episode will begin Jack's dissent into madness.

Sawyer's Jungle Safari
ABC also mentions that "something goes wrong as Sawyer, Claire, Aaron and Miles continue their trek away from Locke’s camp and back to the beach." Judging from this promotional photo alone, it would seem that ABC is greatly exaggerating the headache provided by Sawyer's guitar skills. Previews for the upcoming episode, however, show Sawyer and his pals hiding in the jungle as ruthless mercenary Martin Keamy searches for survivors of the assault on The Barracks. With Keamy on the prowl, expect the Losties to once again find themselves ducking bullets. We hope Sawyer keeps a close eye on Claire, who is already on death watch as mentioned in last week's article.

Skeletons in the Closet
They say that dead men tell no tales, but that rule has never applied on Lost. TV Guide has some ominous scoop about several deceased characters from the show's past, including a message from Charlie Pace played by Dominic Monaghan, who is rumored to be making another appearance on the show very soon. Additionally, word on the street has John Terry reprising his role as Dr. Christian Shephard for this week's coming episode. Spy reports suggest that the actor was spotted on a set posing as Jack Shephard's office. Recall that Jack speaks about his father as though he's still alive in the season three finale episode "Through The Looking Glass." Coincidence? We think not.

Jimmy Kimmel's Awesome Question
Believe it or not, Jimmy Kimmel is about as big a Lost fan as they get. The talk show host recently interviewed showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse about the show, and posed the following question:

Kimmel: Is everyone on the island from the planet Earth?

Cuse: [Long pause] Yes. That may be one of the best "Lost" questions we've ever been asked.

Lindelof: When you get asked questions like that, you have to be very careful how you answer.

The answer given by Cuse and Lindelof can be interpreted in many ways. While it more or less rules out the possibility of extraterrestrials, it indicates that there may be something truly supernatural about some of the characters we've seen on the show. Richard Alpert hasn't aged a day since Benjamin Linus was a boy. There is a gigantic four-toed statue overlooking the island coast. And, oh yeah, a huge honking cloud of black smoke ripping up the jungle. The implications of this question are huge. Brace yourselves now fans, because there is definitely some otherworldly sh-- about to hit the fan.

Unlike the four-toed statue, Lost columnist Josh Wigler has all ten toes. However, he does have two webbed toes on each foot. True story.

Lost is broadcasted by ABC on Thursday nights at 10:00 PM EST. The next episode, "Something Nice Back Home," airs on Thursday, May 1, at 10:00 PM EST.
