Warner Brothers releases cast information about the upcoming animated feature

How do you make the release of a new animated Batman feature even more exciting to fans? You get the man who set the standard for the Dark Knight’s voice to return for the title role.

Yes, Bat-fans, Kevin Conroy – the voice of Batman from “Batman: The Animated Series,” all the way to “Justice League Unlimited” – will be Batman once again in the upcoming DC Universe Animated Original Movie, “Batman: Gotham Knight.”

"Anytime we initiate an animated Batman project, 'Will Kevin Conroy voice Batman?' is the first question we hear from fans," said executive producer and co-creator of “Batman: The Animated Series,” Bruce Timm. “He's got the voice, he's got the acting chops, and he's absolutely the best man for the job."

Conroy will be the focal point of the feature’s substantial voice cast, which includes many of today’s primetime television stars. Gary Dourdan (“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”) and Ana Ortiz (“Ugly Betty”) will voice two police detectives who learn to trust the Batman’s motives. Parminder Nagra (“ER”) supplies the voice of Cassandra, a mystical Indian woman who teaches Bruce Wayne to endure and manage his pain, and Bruce Wayne’s loyal servant Alfred will be voiced by David McCallum (“Navy NCIS, “The Great Escape.”)

It hasn’t been announced yet who will provide the voices for the villains that appear in the feature- Killer Croc, Scarecrow and Deadshot- but it could be any one of cartoon history’s popular voice actors confirmed to be in “Gotham Knight,” like Corey Burton (Brainiac from “Justice League”). Rob Paulsen (“The Tick’s” Arthur), Scott Menville (Robin from “Teen Titans”), or Will Friedle (“Batman Beyond’s” Terry McGinnis).

The animated feature will be coming straight to DVD and Blu-Ray July 8th, and will also be available for download online. Also look for a Two-Disc Special Edition, that will include over 100 minutes of bonus features, like a comprehensive chronology of Batman creator Bob Kane, a documentary focusing on Batman’s rogues gallery, and a sneak peek at DC Universe’s next animated movie: “Wonder Woman.”
